Syzran refinery hit overnight
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said the Syzran oil refinery in Russia's Samara region was hit overnight on July 12. Explosions and a fire were reported at the facility, though the extent of the damage was still being assessed.
Tankers and ferries struck in Sea of Azov
Ukraine also said 10 Russian tankers and four ferries were struck in the Sea of Azov. According to the General Staff, the tankers were being used to transport Russian oil and petroleum products to circumvent international sanctions. The ferries were described as supporting Russian military logistics and transporting cargo for the country's armed forces.
Fuel train damaged near Tokmak
The General Staff also said a Russian train carrying fuel and lubricants was struck near Tokmak in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region on July 11. A locomotive was confirmed to have been damaged in the attack, according to the Ukrainian military.
Broader campaign against Russian infrastructure
Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian energy and transportation infrastructure as part of a broader campaign aimed at reducing Moscow's ability to finance and sustain the war.
Earlier strike on NOVATEK complex confirmed
The General Staff also released an updated assessment of an earlier strike on the NOVATEK–Ust-Luga oil-processing complex in Slobodka, in Russia's Leningrad region. Ukraine said post-strike analysis following the July 10 attack confirmed damage to an oil-processing unit at the facility.
Russia has not publicly confirmed the full extent of the damage reported by Ukraine. The claims could not be independently verified.
